Masters, Critics and Artists

The group is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Ana Maria Cavalcanti Tavares. The effects of the research group’s work are: – training for researchers through scholarships earmarked for graduate students; – promotion of exchanges between researchers from various Brazilian institutions studying 19th century art; – dissemination of research findings on 19th century Brazilian art to all those interested through the group’s website; – examination and transcription of documents / primary sources for Brazil’s 19th and early 20th century art history; – in February 2008, the group’s leader was one of the organisers of the First National Colloquium of Brazilian 19th Century Art Studies, held at the Casa de Rui Barbosa, in Rio de Janeiro.
