Through the Interdisciplinary Poetics line of research, linked to the Art for New Organisms Laboratorial Nucleus/NANO, the LABORATORIUM MAPA D2 project is being developed in partnership with the Technological Poetics Research Group at Bahia Federal University, DCC/UFBA, and with the Telemedia group from Rio de Janeiro’s PUC University/PUC-Rio, the LPCA and Computing from Ceará Federal University/UFC, and LAVID from Paraíba Federal University/UFPB and from RNP. It is the continuation of the LABORATORIUM MAPA D2 project, focused on telematics with performance as a means of expression, aiming to investigate the potential of new information and communication technologies (ICTs) and audiovisual media for creating artistic products. Open labs took place throughout 2011 – the first being at PUC-Rio – as well as workshops, two partial exhibitions and a show in November 2011. Within PPGAV, NANO has been dedicated to creating robotic interfaces and interactive garments for use in direct dialogue with performers. All the technology used is geared towards interconnection at a distance via online data flow. To this end, weekly meetings are held via networks during which the interfaces and image transmissions are tested. This project is based on the ARTHRON communication structure and management flows, developed by LAVID laboratory at UFPB, funded by RNP.
